Roller Course 2 hours for 1 person - outdoors
- 2 hours outdoor roller course for 1 person at the Kayak Hotel Kayak Center in Amager Strandpark for both beginners and experienced.
- The timing of the roller courses is agreed individually.
- The prerequisite for taking the roller course is that you are comfortable with having your head under water and that you do not have a history of shoulder injuries.
Most people can learn to roll a sea kayak, and rolled is the ultimate rescue tool for a sea kayak rower. If you have first learned a roll, it becomes fun to train and further develop your roll, which in turn can lead to the next roll. The roller course is based on you, so whether you are new or have been rolling for several years, there is plenty to learn from Kajakotel's skilled instructors. For DM in Greenland, you will always find Kajakotel's instructors on the podium, and this means that you get individual instruction from some of Denmark's best rollers. At Kajakotel, however, we also understand what is important, and that it is about being able to create a safe environment, convey roller trains, simplify one's vast knowledge into an understandable language.
Our roller courses are based on the individual. Through personal instruction and debugging, you learn the different techniques necessary for a roll to be performed step by step. Most trainees learn to roll on the course, and some learn several different rolls. We have some of Denmark's most skilled trainers in roll, and we welcome both beginners and practitioners. The courses are individual courses over 2 hours (1-2 participants) and take place at Kajakhotellet's course center in Amager Strandpark, where we have optimal conditions in open water. We ALWAYS recommend beginners who want to learn Greenlandic roll to start with a roller course! Rolling is one of the few techniques where it is important to get off to a good start, and at the same time focus is on injury prevention rolling technique. The roll can cause serious shoulder injuries if done incorrectly, and too many autodidacts learn this the hard way, and then it may be too late.
In the sea kayak, you usually sit with a spray deck on it, and thus the kayak is closed off from incoming water, even if you hang upside down. This gives a unique characteristic for seagoing vessels. What other vessel is capable of being overturned by a large wave, only to rise again? Sea kayaks are thus a very safe vessel to move around the ocean in, provided that the person in the cockpit masters a safe roll. The alternative to a safe roll is an imminent risk that the rower, perhaps due to a moment of inattention, perhaps due to weather changes or other influences, will overturn, and will have to withdraw from the kayak and thus is exposed to the greatest danger at sea: the cold. The most important prerequisite for learning a safe roll is that you are comfortable with having your head under water. If you are unsure, we recommend that you go to the swimming pool prior to the course. Here you can do somersaults in the water, “stand on your hands”, and for example take time on how long you can hold your breath under water!
The price is for in-person tuition. Including loan of wetsuit, anorak, vest, kayak, paddle and spray deck. Neoprene shoes must be brought with you. If you bring your own equipment, it does not affect the price.
Price for 2 people. There can be a maximum of 2 people on the course.

Kajakhotellet blev grundlagt i 2005 af de passionerede kajakentusiaster Anders Nielsen og Peter Bondesen. Det hele begyndte med en fælles kærlighed til kajakroning og ønsket om at skabe et unikt sted, hvor både nybegyndere og erfarne roere kunne skabe et fællesskab med havkajakken som omdrejningspunkt. Fra en cirkusvogn, fællesomklædning og toiletter der frøs til henover vinteren, dyrkede vi sammen kærligheden for kajak og vandsport. I 2006 blev Lucia i kajak i de københavnske kanaler en fast tradition som nu er blevet et tilløbsstykke med 4-500 deltagere, og 40-50.000 tilskuere på land! Jørgen Schubert kom senere til som butikschef, og med hans erfaring for detail og detalje, samt baggrund med kitesurfing, events og vandsport var det et perfekt match. Når man træder ind i vores butik og café i Amager Strandpark, så mærk den stemning og den "surfer vibe" som Jørgen har skabt! Siden vi begyndte rejsen, er der løbet meget vand gennem åen, og vores “lille” kajaksted har kunnet udvikle sig sammen med kunder og ikke mindst vores medlemmer, og er vokset til så meget mere! I dag er Kajakhotellet danmarks vel nok største vandsportscenter med havkajak, surfski, stand up paddleboard (SUP), kitesurfing, wing og foil. Komplet med kurser, klub, opbevaring, butik, café, yoga, sauna, stort udvalg, god service, god kaffe, events og opbevaring af kajakker og SUP på vores 2 lokationer i Amager Strandpark og Kalvebod Bølge.
Uden vores fantastiske medarbejdere kunne alt dette dog slet ikke lade sig gøre!
